Week 28

So according to my email updates from a mommy/baby website, we are in Week 28 of little Max's existence. So for no occasion at all, except to celebrate him in our life, I have to brag a little. I have to brag how unbelievably cute and adorable he is! He is always smiling and has the brightest blue eyes! The volunteer grandma at the daycare who does not speak a lot of English tells me every morning (in Spanish) how beautiful and perfect his eyebrows are - which I must say I agree! Even with one eye that is still fighting a clogged eye duck infection, he's still adorable! He's a plump 20 lbs, but not the largest in his class, by far! His little hands and wrists are so chubby that it looks like they are going to explode - he even stares at his hands while rolling his wrists, and when I see him doing it, I can only imagine him saying to himself "wow my hands are huge!" His size does not even compare to the belly laughs that he gives out - especially when Karmann is entertaining him - usually by fake-sneezing, which Max thinks is THE funniest thing in the world right now! He hardly ever cries, I hardly ever have trouble putting him to bed - in fact, he often puts himself to sleep while sucking on his two middle fingers on his right hand - or his thumb on the left hand. He loves taking baths and splashing in the water, and his new favorite thing is -- eating! He is in week 2 of solid food. So far he's had rice, oatmeal, bananas, sweet potatoes, and avocado. Avocado is the winner so far, with bananas in a close second.
So, how's Karmann dealing with all of this cuteness? Well, her cuteness has not ceased, as she is about as sweet as can be with Max. Though she has been a little possessive of her toys and thinks a lot of his toys are hers, but in general, she's catching on to the fact that he will give her attention, and not just Mommy and Daddy. Its a short attention span, but attention, none the less! While I'm on the subject of Karmann, let me brag a little about her as well. She is starting to comprehend simple words and the concept of reading!! She's also starting to comprehend the concepts of addition and subtraction. Also, when she doesn't know the word for something, she uses adjectives, such as "I see something red and smooth" and then she points to it. Or she asks what the word is for something and then pretty much remembers it, even if she pronounces it incorrectly (which is cute too). She's doing much much better in the potty department, though she's still not 100%, but we at least have faith that she will move up with the rest of her class in August. I wish I could remember all the really clever and observant things she says. Its really amazing the things she comprehends and she's only 3 1/2 years old. I wonder if I was that way at this age??? Oh - and I cannot forget to mention that she's really good at brushing her teeth!

On another note, this week has been a little rough. I had a stomach bug yesterday, and Kris got it today. So far Karmann and Max have been okay. We think it may have been some chicken that we ate Wednesday night. I tell you, though, its almost harder to take care of yourself when you are sick, than it is to take care of two kids! I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is over once Kris gets better. We have a packed weekend planned of parties and family visitors, so we all need to stay healthy!! On to week 29 - I can't wait for all the enjoyable moments and I am sure I will share again soon!
