Kris and I often have to remind ourselves that Karmann is only 3 1/2 years old. Tonight was a good example. While sitting on the potty, she usually asks us to read her books. The past two nights we had two simple books that were about a barnyard dance and animal noises. After I read them once, with her help on the animal noises, etc. she decided she wanted to read them to me. So she did - and it was impressive! She either has a photographic memory, or she is really starting to learn and identify words. She acted like I do when she reads them, which was pretty funny, and she even sang the barnyard dance book like I do - and though she didn't get all the words right, it was pretty darn close! Kris even looked at me with the "did she just do that?" look. I praised her for doing such a good job and she was a little embarrassed, but happy, too! It was pretty cute.
Then a few minutes later, I had to take a couple of Tums, as Kris and I are still fighting this stomach thing we both got, and of course Karmann thinks they are candy and gets upset that we aren't sharing with her. When we said they were not for her and children she started to cry and said "I want to grow up so I can have adult candy!" - it was sooo sad and hilarious at the same time. Kris immediately said he didn't want her to grow up at all and that we wanted her to stay just as cute as she is right now. I agreed and we gave her a big hug. She still didn't really get it, but it got her mind off of the Tums, and she didn't ask again! Bless her little heart! She is so smart and adorable - which still spells trouble, but we do have to stop and cherish these moments every once in a while!!!
