Full Swing into Spring Training

As usual, I will post photos at a later date, but wanted to remind myself to blog about Nathan visiting, the Braves/Astros game at Disney on Friday and Max peeing on the people in front of us, Winter Park Art festival, and the Astros/Mets game - all this weekend. I also want to remember Karmann telling me at dinner where leprechauns live. And the "coo coo bird" that's been living in our house lately. Max is almost turning over, and almost sleeping through the night (its been a week!) And, Kar playing with Max tonight in the kitchen - melted my heart! So, more details to come this week, but I need my sleep now. Gnite!

4 month check up and other updates from this week

Max's 4 month update was Thursday (not Friday as previously blogged) and here's the stats: 17 lbs. 15 oz. for weight (95th percentile), and 26 3/4" tall (95th percentile)!!! As the doctor said "He's a big boy!" but healthy and happy - we are blessed! He is such a cute, I can't stand it! His sunburned cheeks are doing better, but are still rosy as can be, which makes him even cuter when he smiles! He's such a social little man and loves to talk talk talk! And as soon as he catches you looking at him, he throws the biggest smile your way that just melts your heart! He is getting stronger everyday too, even though he doesn't like to eat from the bottle during the day, he's making up for it at night and still isn't sleeping through the night. His strength, though is helping him sit up in the "entertainment center" and bumbo chair, which gives him a few more choices of perspective when awake now. He also hates to have blankets on his feet, and loves to play with the hanging toys with his toes. He's rolling from side to side, but not all the way over yet. I'm sure that will happen any day now. Tummy time isn't Max's favorite thing in the world, but we are working on it. He is still teething and likes to suck the two middle fingers on his right hand, and has started to suck his thumb on his left hand! He knows his hands, likes to touch his ears, and also play with the little bits of hair he has on the sides of his head. He really is an angel baby and I can't help but adore him!
This past week was a little rough. Karmann woke up Thursday night with a high fever. It was a 24 hour thing that luckily only included a fever and no other symptoms. She recovered fast and was back to normal by the weekend. Her thing lately has been "tomorrow mommy, I'll ___ tomorrow." It could be anything from giving me a hug or kiss good bye, to taking a shower, to going potty. Her latest saga with potty training, though is her saying "I never want to go pee pee or potty EVER AGAIN!" Its difficult to explain that that can't really happen, but she has it in her mind that it could! Its getting a little better, though. This past week she did go poop twice in the potty for us! However, I can't forget to mention that Friday when she was home sick, I came home in the morning before lunch so that Kris could attend a meeting, and Karmann was playing in my red shoes that I had worn to work. I had just been trying to get her to go potty, as she was doing the pee pee dance, and of course she refused. As soon as I turned around to go sit down, she announces that she indeed IS going potty - right through her clothes and directly into my shoe!!! After we went to the potty and got her clean clothes, I went to clean up the puddle, and she realized that she peed in the shoe, and she said "Mommy, I am sorry I peed in your RED shoe!" She figured it out that with the pee, she would not be able to play in them any more. Her other favorite saying is "I promise". This too is a procrastination strategy that she also uses when she doesn't want to go. She says she promises not to go in her pants or promises she'll tell me later. She's smart and she is currently getting away with it!

Daddy's home this week - his students are on Spring Break!
Daddy got the entertainment center down from the attic - Max is a happy Boy!

Well, I promised photos this time, so I am going to stop now and hope to get a few uploaded before I head to the kitchen to clean and then to bed. Daylight savings was this weekend...not looking forward to the consequences.

Another quick update

Its Sunday night after a great weekend, so I just want to make a few notes and I promise I'll upload photos this week...Yesterday Max hit the 4 month mark! I'm not sure what he weighs, but its a lot. We will know for sure on Friday when he has his check up. We celebrated in Tampa this weekend, as Kris ran in the Gasparilla Half-marathon, (which was this morning). We headed over yesterday and stayed the night at Aunt Keri and Uncle Choy and Cousin Amara's house. Uncle Choy made an awesome spaghetti and meatball dinner and then we were all off to an early bed time. Kris had to be downtown at 5 am, so we let him go by himself. I was a little concerned it was even going to happen, as the wind was crazy and a line of storms came through, but it was all over before the race began - except for the wind. But he survived and finished by 8 am. So we were just getting up when he got back. I have to thank both K and M for sleeping fairly well all night. (Kris slept on the couch downstairs so his sleep would not be interrupted by a kick or a cry.)
After breakfast, we quickly made plans for the day. Keri, Amara, Karmann and I were to go see the movie "The Lorax" and Kris and Max were headed to the NY Yankees spring training game (Yankee's stadium was the closest and most convenient). It was Karmann's first movie ever in a theater! And Max's first spring training game! Milestones for both! Karmann did really well in the theater and she loved the movie. She was a little bored after about an hour, and told me she "didn't want to watch TV any more, mommy." But, when I held her, she was fine for the rest of the show. She really liked it and when asked what the movie was about she said, "a boy who had to plant a seed." I was impressed she caught that concept. It was a fun movie and fun to share it with Keri and Amara too.
Max and Kris also had a great day. They even ended up (barely) on the ESPN highlights when a home run went out just right next to where they were standing. Both of them survived the wind, though both had rosy cheeks and noses when we picked them up. I am hoping Max doesn't end up with a bunch of freckles from the sun, but it might be cute!
It was a quick weekend, but eventful and fun. Spring training has begun!! More to come....
