Garage Unit Progress 8/27/2020

So last weekend we made a lot of progress by moving my dad into our condo. This was a big step to get him closer to us. Also, this week, the slab was poured and the walls are up on the garage and unit in our back yard. This has been a glimmer of hope and progress in this crazy time. Kids are troopers by attending school virtually while dealing with the construction noise. It will be over soon! Blessed we are able to do this project and look forward already to when it is complete! 

2019?? And 2020???

How can it be the end of September of 2019? Where has the time gone. I feel like I have forgotten this purpose, though so many amazing things have happened in the past 2 years.

...It looks like I started to give an overview of 2019 and stopped. I'm sure that I was overwhelmed or distracted and didn't finish. Here I am at the end of July 2020 and just now following up. I would have never had guessed that half of 2020 has basically been spent at home in quarantine due to COVID-19....

We are about to embark on another project on our property - an accessory garage and unit for my dad to move into. Though this week we were planning on "breaking ground" its already Tuesday and things are getting off the ground slowly. Blogging came to mind, and here I am. I am contemplating using this forum to keep track of the visual progress. I am also thinking about creating a journal to record all the other details about the progress, and maybe my notes about the construction industry as a whole. Lets see if this plan works. If it does, things should be complete in 6 months. Wish is luck!  

Gearing up for A'17 in Orlando

It seams like we've been planning for this month for years, and now as AIA Orlando Chapter President, its actually coming in less than 2 weeks. Its been a lot of work and a lot of people have put a lot of volunteer hours into showcasing Orlando as a place on the map of architecture. We really can't wait for 15,000 architects to see Orlando again for the first time. We truly hope they will experience our City in a different way.
But its April 2017 already, and we've already been through Kris turning 40, another marathon in Birmingham, Al, baseball spring training, and both of us have also already been to DC! We have a lot more planned, but are focused on the Conference for the moment. A few photos in the mean time:

Catching up on the rest of 2016

I sit here starring at my Christmas tree and searching for gifts on line and realize its been quite a while since I've updated StengerLIFE. This year continues to be packed with events, milestones, and travel. 2016 will certainly go down in the history books for more reason than one. Here's a summary of our story:

Future novelist, journalist, or blogger?

Summers need to move slower....

As I mentioned before, this summer has gone by so fast. It was particularly shorter this year and only lasted 9 weeks. We didn't have a big trip planned, nor did our planned visits from family work out, but we still made the best out of it. Karmann kicked it off with her 4th dance recital, and performed "Putting on the Ritz" in tap. Her group stole the show at 7-8 years old! She also attended her Girl Scout Bridging ceremony, which she graduated from a Daisy to a Brownie. She chose Maxwell to walk the bridge with her, which was the sweetest thing!
We did take a short weekend get-away to St. Pete Beach and spent the weekend with our toes in the sand, and also caught a Tampa Bay Ray's baseball game.
July seamed like we fell into a routine. 4th of July was pretty low-key. Karmann is still afraid of fireworks, so we celebrated with friends downtown but left before the noise. Thankfully, both kids were in one place for daycare and summer camp, which made it convenient for pick-up and drop-off.
My Aunt Judy and Aunt Barbara came over to visit my dad for a day, which was great to see them together.
Last week, I was lucky to spend a few days at the AIA FL conference at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach. I very much look forward to the next time it is hosted there! It was probably one of the best conventions I have ever been to. I only wish that Kris could have been there too. However, he was asked to participate in an educational video in D.C. for the National AIA, so we swapped kids before he had a few days alone up there.
With August just a few days away, we are about to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary! We don't have big plans, but will have a celebratory dinner at Epcot, which will be nice! Other than that, the next few weeks we will be preparing for the school year! And off we go....
