So as I was just talking to myself in my head, I was searching for the two-year check-up report papers from Karmann's doctor. I was reminding myself that I was doing this same thing a few days ago when I thought I was going to get around to updating this blog - and the same thing was happening - I couldn't find it in this mess!! In case everyone forgot (including myself!) we are about 6 weeks away from getting a certificate of occupancy at the house! And therefore hoping to MOVE into it around the same time. Well, in the mean time, a lot of the stuff for the new house is currently sitting in our condo. For example, the toilets (in boxes) are next to the couch in the living room. And my BEAUTIFUL refrigerator has been living in my dining room since MAY - yes, that's almost been 9 months now. And, keep in mind, too, that we have a 2-year old and all her stuff. Which includes the latest things that Santa brought for Christmas! So, as you can imagine, this place is a disaster. By Friday night, I don't feel like picking up one more thing, or cleaning the floor again, though I usually end up doing the cleaning right before I go to bed, because I'll realize tomorrow is the weekend, and we will be busy the whole time, so I know if I don't do it now, it won't get done!
Any who. Back to the topic....since I finally found it after about 5 minutes...
On January 3rd, Karmann had her 2-year check up. We waited till after the holidays so she wouldn't be cranky over the trip after getting her shots. So after all the awesome holiday meals, she turned out to weigh 24 lbs. 4 oz. (naked) and was 34" tall! Dr. Coffman estimated her height to be around 5'-8" as an adult. So, hopefully she will be about my height. Though, with the Stenger side genes, she could be as short as 5'-6" (which is still tall for a Stenger girl :)
She is still walking on her tippy-toes, though not all the time, but we are keeping an eye on that. I just see it as a tell-tale sign that she is meant to be a ballerina! All other parts are normal. She and I were a little under the weather - me more than her - with a terrible cough that I caught up in Illinois. I'll fill you in on that story in a moment. So the first week of Jan she was ok, and then last week was the MLK holiday, and she caught a cold again and missed 2 days of daycare. She didn't mind, as Grandpa Hare came down for the rescue! He watched Karmann for most of the day she was out. She only had a low-grade fever of 99.4 +/- and was having a great time with him all day! They definitely bonded because she now can say "Grandpa" and gets very excited when he comes to see her! It is too cute!
Jumping to last night, Uncle Brian is visiting Orlando for a work conference, but we were lucky that he had an early flight and he spent the majority of the day with Kris. After we all went to dinner downtown, we were in the car on the way home and got stopped by a train. Karmann immediately started to count the train cars - starting with 1 and she counted all the way to 20!!! She was a little stuck on the "teens" and kept saying fourteen or some version of "teen" until she said 20! We were all pretty impressed! So then I asked her to say the alphabet, and she recited the whole thing almost as clear as day! Kris and I were proud of our baby girl showing off to Uncle B! She's definitely becoming more articulate when she speaks, and she also understands commands and has a really great memory! She remembers where she puts things and goes back to find them sometimes a day or so later. She's not quite liking the potty training right now, though we really haven't been consistent, so I can't blame her. She's also not a big fan of taking a bath, until you get her in the water, then she has a blast. But telling her she's going to take a bath is when the challenge begins. One thing she does seem to enjoy, though, is brushing her teeth!!
She loves this show on Netflix called "Kipper" which is a British cartoon with 3 dogs and 2 pigs and is adorable. So now she watches that about as much as she watched Elmo. I am trying to limit her tv hours now, especially on the weekends. I notice such a different behavior when she's in front of a tv, so I am making a better effort to do other activities with her. She still loves her books and she loves to pretend she is reading them. Its pretty cute, too. Her other new fun thing is to go "inside" the covers on the bed and tickle my toes. We have a blast - and when Daddy is home too, she yells "Daddy! Daddy! Inside? Come inside!" And he better get his behind in there, or she'll keep yelling until he does! Then when we are all inside, its a big tickle and giggle fest!!
She is growing and changing so fast it seems these days. We are excited to get her room together at the new house, with her new kitchen, table and chairs, and artist easel, but I just know from that point, time is going to fly and before we know it she will be a teenager!! I hope there's some way we can take it all in and slow it down, though I look forward to it!
