For the last ten days, Karmann and I have been visiting my mom and Denny in Fairfield CA. It was a wonderful trip that I look forward to do many times again! I proved to myself that I can travel alone with Karmann long distances and survive!!! I was so nervous before the trip, but everything on the way there went smooth as could be! We left Orlando at 8 am and transferred flights in Vegas. The first leg was 5 hours - yes, 5 hours. She was really good, though! Luckily she slept for about 2 of the 5, which allowed me to get a bit of sleep as well. The short leg to Sacramento was fine too, as it was only 1 1/2 hours and she loved looking out the window, so she sat still. I leave the story of the flight back till the end of this entry....
When we got to CA, GG and Gramps were eager to see us - okay, mostly Karmann, but fine! We played in the back yard, swinging, and walking, and playing with Raz (soon to be re-named MeMe) the cat. It was a short evening before Karmann was ready for bed, as the 3 hour time change would take a while to get used to.
The next day, we drove to Monterey, Pebble Beach, and Carmel. This was sooo cool! I still can't believe the I was at Pebble Beach Golf course! It was so beautiful and exactly like it looks on TV! The "17 mile drive" was also very enjoyable with the scenery and the houses! We ate lunch at Monterey, near the Cannery and Aquarium. This was really a neat little attraction. We continued on the Pebble Beach, and then finished up shopping in the downtown Carmel and swung by the beach for just a few seconds before turning around and heading back. It was a day long trip, but soo worth it!!! Karmann was a gem in the car and at the restaurants and shopping, too!! Bless her heart - she only had one break down - of course at Pebble Beach club house! Oh well!
The next day we relaxed and played around the house, and went to the outlet mall to get Karmann warm clothes! The weather was unseasonably cold, and I didn't bring any warm clothes! So GG was in her glory buying K more clothes! Karmann is set for the summer - if not the rest of the year!
Monday, Denny and Karmann got some one-on-one time as Mom and I went to get our feet massaged and had lunch. Gramps and Karmann had a blast swinging and playing in the yard! After Gramps went to work, us gals went to the Jelly Belly factory! We toured the factory and even met the owner and CEO of the company! (GG knows them through work!) That was a special treat for sure! During the tour, Karmann was particularly interested in the robots that moved the large trays of jelly beans around the factory! It was cute to see how focused and interested she was during the whole tour watching every step and motion! I know I certainly have a new respect of the Jelly Belly jelly bean!! Not to mention they taste really good too!
The next few days we really relaxed and enjoyed each other's company. Both Karmann and I had sinus issues, but that didn't stop us from sleeping in and taking lots of naps!! Karmann pretty much stayed on east coast time, which meant I was up around 4 am with her, watching sesame street until breakfast time! Let's just say she got a lot of sleep, and I did not! Needless to say, we visited Nut Tree park and rode the train and merry-go-round a couple of times, and of course shopped a little more. We also visited some vineyards and tasting rooms, too. Napa Valley was another day trip, which was very fun and tasty! Lunch at Carneros Inn was especially a treat!! Again, Karmann was an angel, though people did give us weird looks when we walked in with a baby! She had her best behavior and manners on the whole time - did I mention I love her!?!
There are a lot of photos in this group - actually two groups. So hopefully you won't get bored.
The time went by so fast and the dreaded long trip home came too soon. I mentioned that I would fill you in on the trip home, however, I've decided to just say that I survived, Karmann survived, and I hope next time things go a little better!
A huge thanks goes out to Mom and Denny for a wonderful trip! We really can't wait to go back!!
